Tara Roberts Bio
Keeping the flame going...

Hi! My name is Tara Roberts. I have loved beads since I was a little girl. I
love the colors, shapes and stringing them to make a creation I could wear
everywhere. As I grew older, I started to sew and went to fashion design sewing
everything from clothing, bags, and quilts. I would make jewelry to accent my fashion designs. One day, I went to the Intergalactic bead show which changed my
life. I fell in love with Ray Olson glass fairy bead and wanted to make them
myself. I was amazed by this art called lampworking. I bought a minor, torch,
moretti glass, a kiln and the book" More than You every want to know about
Beadmaking". In September 2004, I picked up a glass rod and turned on the
minor torch. That night changed my life and I never looked back.
I love making things. I sew, I do beadwork and make jewelry, I paint and draw, I'm
a seamstress, also sculpt ceramic beads, I lampwork both soft and hard glass, I
also am a glassblower. Addicted to making crazy animal fleece hats. They seam to
tie all together. I seem to draw women, fairies, mermaids, and other realms of
mystic world with whatever material I am using whether its a pen, fabric, glass,
or clay. I consider all my pieces little
works of art and ways expressing myself.
I started a company called Roberts Studio aka The Mad Beadmakers in 2005 and my
art has traveled the United States through beads and art shows the past two
years. I traveled with the Intergalactic Bead Shows, Down the Street Bead Shows,
Dragoncon, To Bead True Blue Show and honored by the Bead and Button show for
accepting me for my sculpture work. My work has progressed into soft glass and
hard glass. I love to sculpt little women, human life, fairies. mermaids,
dragons, creatures and show life in every piece I make. American Sign Language
has a special place in my heart for my parents are deaf and I am fluent in sign
language. I give back to them and the beauty of sign language by creating ASL
glass creations.
I have taken classes to further my journey in glass. My following teachers I
have taken are Milon Townsend, Loren Stump, Ryan Paris and John
"Chico" Roberts. Flow Magazine gave me an honorable mention in 2005
for Women in Glass. I was also a Finalist for Fire Mountain Gem for Ocean
Harvest Mermaid Necklace which contained over 10000 beads from my bead
collection I've had since I was little. Thank you all for believing in me.
I feel that Glass has takes me on a spiritual journey and has such a magical
touch on me. I put my heart and soul into my glass creations and sculpt my life
in all my pieces. Thank you for your support and for checking me out.
