John Roberts Out of the mist of Olympia Glassworks with a new visionary and inspirational life partner. John W. Roberts has surfaced once again in the spiritual realm of Modern Contemporary Glass Art. John has been mesmerized with with the medium for over a decade now and has dedicated his life to mastering his art. John was born 6/19/72 in Deland Florida to one Sau Nuygen of Saigon, Vietnam and Everett G. Roberts of Etowah, Tennessee. With his older sister Thuy Roberts they made their move to the United States where John was born.Soon after they moved to a small town of Cartersville, tucked between the foothills of the blue ridge Mt. and the thriving city of Atlanta Ga .There is parents gave him a sister 15 months later one Leila Roberts and 4 years after that a brother one Jason Roberts. John grew up as a typical boy in the good old south, but he always had the filling of misplacement in the mostly dominate black and white society. In 94 John took a turn for the best and left Georgia with the intention of finding a place in America that better suited his dreams of becoming an artist. In that time John had the privilege of visiting 46 states and had experienced a life time of unforgettable people, landscapes and memories on his journey of life in which he has applied to his love for melting glass. In the fall of 95 John felt the lose of an important entity in his life one Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead, with this lose he made a move to the Great North Pacific State of Washington. There he contemplated working with soft glass, but found the hot shops where hard to get in too. So, he decided to flow with the medium of Borosilicate which one could set up in a small area and work from home. In the fall of 96 John was blessed with the birth of ifs daughter Lianna Roberts in Tacoma Wa. John found a higher awareness in life with the inspiration of his daughter. Even with the lose of his wife and Olympia Glassworks in 2004 John has persevered through with the dedication to the art. In the summer of 2007 John was once again blessed by the glass god with one Tara Roberts of Georgia. Together they have joined forces to form Forward Motion Art. They hope to make a difference in society by helping putting smiles on kids faces their art. Thank you for your visiting our site and for your support. Tara Roberts
Self
taught seamstress and glass sculptor~ An artist in everyway ~ A mother
~A child at heart.
I
am always changing, morphing into my destiny.
Finding
fullfillment in the magical things in life ~ living as simple as
possible.
And
trying to make a differance in this world.
I have loved beads since I was
a little girl. I love the colors, shapes and stringing them to make a
creation I could wear everywhere. As I grew older, I started to sew and went
to fashion design sewing everything from clothing, bags, and quilts. I
would make jewelry to accent her fashion designs. One day, I went to the
Intergalactic bead show which changed my life. I fell in love with
Ray Olson glass fairy bead and wanted to make them herself. I was amazed by
this art called lampworking. I bought a minor, torch, moretti glass, a kiln and
the book" More than You every want to know about Beadmaking". In
September 2004, I picked up a glass rod and turned on the minor torch. That
night changed my life and I never looked back.
I love making things. I sew, I do beadwork and make jewelry, I paint and draw,Im a seamstress, also sculpt ceramic beads, I lampwork both soft and hard glass, I also am a glassblower. Addicted to making crazy animal fleece hats. They seam to tie all together. Im addicted to making stuff, I guess. I started a company called Roberts Studio aka The Mad Beadmakers in 2005 and my art has traveled the United States through beads and art shows the past two years. I traveled with the Intergalatic Bead Shows, Down the Street Bead Shows, Dragoncon, To Bead True Blue Show and honored by the Bead and Button show for accepting me for my sculpture work. My work has progressed into soft glass and hard glass. I love to sculpt little women, human life, fairies. mermaids, dragons, creatures and show life in every piece I make.American Sign Language has a special place in my heart for my parents are deaf and I am fluent in sign language. I give back to them and the beauty of sign lanuage by creating ASL glass creations, too. I have taken classes to further my journey in glass. My following teachers I have taken are Milon Townsend, Loren Stump, Ryan Paris and John "Chico" Roberts. Flow Magazine gave me an honorable mention in 2005 for Women in Glass. I was also a Finalist for Fire Mountain Gem for Ocean Harvest Mermaid Necklace which contained over 10000 beads from my bead collection Ive had since I was little. Thank you all for beliving in me. I feel that Glass has takes me on a spiritual journey and has such a magical touch on me. I put my heart and soul into my glass creations and sculpt my life in all my pieces.Thank you for your support and for checking me out. We will be donating beads and hats to kids who are terminally ill to bring a smile on their face. Because They are the ones who hold the beauty to life. To my greatest creation Ariel Lynn Roberts: You are my greatest inspiration and I love you with all my heart
